Loggerhead Key
Loggerhead Key Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in the Florida Keys, rising 157 feet above a remote island in Dry Tortugas National Park. Its black-and-white brick tower is visible from Garden Key but requires a separate boat trip to visit.
Key West
Key West Lighthouse has watched the city grow around it since the present tower was built in 1848. No longer an active aid, it is now a museum where visitors can climb above Old Town and explore the restored keeper’s quarters.
Jupiter Inlet
Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse rises from an ancient shell mound above the meeting of the Loxahatchee River and Atlantic coast. First lighted in 1860, the red brick tower still operates with its first-order Fresnel lens and welcomes visitors year-round.
Hillsboro Inlet
Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse has marked the reef-lined coast between Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach since 1907. Its black-and-white iron tower still displays a powerful second-order Fresnel lens and opens for a limited schedule of boat-access tours.
Gasparilla Island
Gasparilla Island Lighthouse began service in Delaware before being dismantled, shipped south, and rebuilt near Boca Grande. The slender white skeletal tower was relighted in 2019 after a community restoration and now shines with a replica Fresnel lens.
Garden Key (Tortugas Harbor)
Garden Key Lighthouse rises from a bastion of Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park. The compact black iron tower replaced an earlier brick lighthouse in 1876 and remains a prominent part of the fort, though its navigational service ended in 1921.
Fowey Rocks
Fowey Rocks Lighthouse has stood directly on the reef east of Key Biscayne since 1878. Its open iron framework replaced Cape Florida as the area’s principal seacoast light and remains an active, boat-access landmark within Biscayne National Park.
Egmont Key
Egmont Key Lighthouse has watched over the entrance to Tampa Bay since the 1850s. Reached by boat through a wildlife refuge and state park, the shortened white tower shares the island with ruins of Fort Dade and miles of historic brick roads.
Crooked River
Crooked River Lighthouse is a striking red-and-white iron tower built in 1895 near Carrabelle. Restored after decades of service and neglect, it now anchors a public park with a keeper’s house museum and regular tower climbs.
Cedar Keys
The lighthouse on Seahorse Key is built into a broad brick keeper’s dwelling high above the Gulf. First lighted in 1854 and returned to light in 2019, it opens only for special events reached by boat from Cedar Key.
